A dog seat cover only does its job if it actually fits your car. Too narrow and it slides around; too wide and it bunches under your dog's paws. Before you order, grab a tape measure — it takes two minutes and saves a return.
1. Measure your rear bench width
Measure the rear bench from door to door at the widest point where the cover will sit. Write the number down — you'll need it when checking fit, and if you're unsure, send it to us and we'll confirm.
2. Check your headrests
Hammock-style covers anchor by looping straps over the headrest posts — front and rear. Check that your car has post-style headrests (not fixed or molded ones) in both rows. No posts means no anchor points.
3. Confirm seat-belt buckle access
After the cover is installed, you still need to reach the seat-belt buckles — for human passengers and for your dog's tether. If the buckles sit deep between the cushions, make sure the cover leaves them reachable.
Hammock vs. bench covers
A bench cover lays flat across the seat. A hammock-style cover spans from the front headrests to the rear ones, walling off the footwell and giving your dog the whole bench. If your dog likes to stand and look out the window, the hammock's side flaps also shield the doors.
Quick install check
Once it's on: tug each strap, press the base into the seat crease, and confirm nothing blocks the buckles, latches, or your visibility. The whole thing should take a few minutes.
